Classes & Rules

 

Classes:

Male Bowhunter Open A bow with a moveable sight or scope.  May use a release aid, glove, tab, or bare fingers.
Female Bowhunter Open A bow with a moveable sight or scope.  May use a release aid, glove, tab, or bare fingers.
Male Bowhunter Release A bow with fixed pin sights and shot with some type of release aid.
Female Bowhunter Release A bow with fixed pin sights and shot with some type of release aid.
Male Compound Aided A compound bow with fixed pin sights.  Must be shot with a glove, tab, or bare fingers.
Female Compound Aided A compound bow with fixed pin sights.  Must be shot with a glove, tab, or bare fingers.
Male Compound Unaided A compound bow without any sights.  Must be shot with a glove, tab, or bare fingers.
Female Compound Unaided A compound bow without any sights.  Must be shot with a glove, tab, or bare fingers.
Senior Compound            ages 50 & over An optional class that uses any type of bow or equipment described above.
Female Senior Compound       ages 50 & over An optional class that uses any type of bow or equipment described above.
Recurve Open A recurve bow with no sight or release aid.  No arrow restrictions.
Longbow Open A longbow with no sight or release aid.  No arrow restrictions.
Female Recurve Open A recurve bow with no sight or release aid.  No arrow restrictions.
Female Longbow Open A longbow with no sight or release aid.  No arrow restrictions.
Recurve Wood A recurve with no sight or release aid.  Wooden arrows only.
Longbow Wood A longbow with no sight or release aid.  Wooden arrows only.
Female Recurve Wood A recurve with no sight or release aid. Wooden arrows only
Female Longbow Wood A longbow with no sight or release aid. Wooden arrows only.
Senior Traditional             ages 50 & over An optional class that uses a recurve or longbow described above.
Female Senior Traditional       ages 50 & over An optional class that uses a recurve or longbow described above.
Youth Bowhunter Release       ages 13-17 A compound bow with fixed pin sights and shot with some type of release aid.
Youth Compound Unaided    ages 13-17 A compound bow without sights.  Must be shot with a glove, tab, or bare fingers.
Youth Traditional  ages 13-17 A recurve or longbow with no sight or release aid.  No arrow restrictions.
Cub Bowhunter Release  ages 9-12 A compound bow with fixed pin sights and shot with some type of release aid.
Cub Compound Unaided      ages  9-12 A compound bow without any sights.  Must be shot with a glove, tab, or bare fingers.
Cub Traditonal      ages  9-12 A recurve or longbow with no sight or release aid.  No arrow restriction.
Mini-Cub        ages 8 & under Any type of bow or equipment described above.

 

Rules:

SOUTH PLAINS BOWHUNTERS TOURNAMENTS ARE NOT IBO. REGULATED

ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES OR FIREARMS ARE ALLOWED ON THE PROPERTY

1.   Any infraction of the rules can result in disqualification and entry money will not be refunded.

2.   Score cards must be turned in by the designated times daily or they will be voided.

3.   Shooters are responsible for their scorecards.

4.   Targets must be scored before the arrows are pulled.

5.   The arrow must be stuck in the target, except for a pass through, which has to be witnessed by the group.

6.   Shooters must touch the assigned stake with some part of their body.

7.   Binoculars are allowed, but no range finders.

8.   Yardage cannot be discussed prior to shooting.

9.   When retrieving arrows, one person must remain at the target to alert other shooters.

10.  A person may compete in different classes, but only one class at a time.  Each score card must be turned in before shooting another class.

11.  To determine the winner of tie scores, X's will be counted, with the higher amount winning.  In case a tie still exists, a shoot off will be held, and the shooter must be present.

12.  Score cards must be turned in by 4:00 pm to be counted.  No cards can be turned in after this time.

13.  There must be at least three people in a class for awards to be given.
